Leviathan

Location: x = -2300, z = -1058. Approximately 2 km north of TomCat Ranch.

Can be reached via: rail from TomCat Ranch basement. Or, from the ranch portal, go up the hill through the gap in the fence, and follow the stone pathway. Be prepared to swim when exiting the far portal.

Builders: lotharbot, catdarrow

Leviathan is an underwater base. The terrain is an ocean biome. This is an ideal location for exploring new biomes and structures from the 1.8 update, with nearby abandoned mineshafts, ravines, and even an NPC village.

Over a dozen trees fill the arboretum. These are available to harvest, but please replant any trees you use.

A full-featured workshop and storage area. Note the entrance to the arboretum, on the left between the boxes.

Melons and wheat grow in the hanging gardens.

Several sets of guest quarters allow for an unparalleled view of the ocean floor. Here, squid swim past the arboretum.

Monster Condo

A cross-sectional view

location: centered at x= -608 z= -1108. Accessible only underground via TomCat Ranch.
concept and design: andrewo_ and lotharbot
builders: lotharbot, catdarrow, andrewo_, _RIP_Rooster

This is an efficient monster killer and loot generator.

There are 28 levels, each shaped like this construction shot. Enemies spawn in the flat areas, wander into the water, and get pushed down the holes into small glass chambers...

... where they are killed, sometimes by the fall, and other times by the lava. All of the loot is pushed to the center of the room by water currents.

This is what it looks like if the center of the tower is invisible. The redstone torches provide an eerie glow on each level (viewable from the central glass-enclosed ladder).

Procellarum Base

Location: in the nether, east of the Ranch portal (follow the walkway)

Builder: lotharbot

The campsite. The box is full of grilled fish, pork, eggs, and bread. Missing: beer.

An all-natural mushroom farm. Well, as natural as mushrooms get in the nether.

Some shots for scale. This is a very large cavern.

The view to the southwest.

Tranquility Base

Location: in the nether. Enter from the portal southeast of the RIP Fort (in the little hut, towards Rabid's cave) or underneath TomCat Ranch (through the trapdoor under the greenhouse)

Builder: catdarrow

The Tranquility room. A nice, pleasant picnic space in the nether.

The view from the workshop. This is completely safe from ghasts, as they can't see through glass.

The bridge from Tranquility Base to the ranch portal.

The mushroom farm, on top of Tranquility base.

Outside view. The mushroom farm is above; bridge is far left; workshop is bottom left.

Not pictured: tree farm.

Great Glass Paraboloid

Location: x = -375, z = -1275. Directly east of TomCat Ranch, about 2 rendering lengths.
Builder: catdarrow
Materials: lotharbot

This is a huge glass paraboloid made of over 10,000 blocks of glass. There's nothing in it except some floating glass blocks that are fun to stand on. It's hard to climb. But it's really pretty.

Please don't lead any creepers to it.

RIP Castle

Location: X:120, Z:-516
The server spawn point is directly in front of it. 2 rendering lengths SW of TomCat Ranch. 1 length W of Rabid's Cave. 3 lengths NE of the Underwater Base. Builder: Fd13
Organization of materials: lotharbot
RIP Minecraft's first home.

View from the front. Server spawn is about 7 blocks in front of the front door.

View just inside the front door.

The Study. Col. Mustard was here. With the knife. :P

View of the courtyard.

A shot from the top of the observation tower on top of the castle. The minecart tracks lead down to the main mine.

Welcome to any and all RIPpers who wish to try their hand at Minecraft!

Descent Level Room 2 Side by Side

Here are some side by side shots of the newly completed Room 2 and their in-Descent counterparts:

These are of the small blue room under the long room below. As of yet, the window to the reactor room looks into rock, but I plan to have the reactor room extend up to the window.

These two are of the big, long room at the end of the left tunnel leading out of the spawn room.

The scale is a bit bigger than the game, but this is due to the limitations of the block format used in Minecraft. Tell us what you think!

TomCat Ranch

Location: x = -360, z = -810 (main gate), x= -425, z= -910 (lodge). North-northeast of the RIP Fort about 2 rendering-lengths. Go north toward the sandstone tower, and then northeast until you see the fence.
Builders: catdarrow, lotharbot

Situated on five acres (yes, I counted) of productive pastureland, with four ponds, a nearby tree farm, and views of several lakes, TomCat Ranch is the ideal place for your next MineCraft getaway!

The lodge is equipped to sleep six, with a full kitchen, balcony overlooking the greatroom, and even a golden bathtub. All these creature comforts, with wilderness just moments away!

Meals are produced using all local ingredients, including pork, milk, and eggs from our livestock, and wheat from our award-winning greenhouse, and cooked using coal direct from our mine!

Tourists and hunters welcome. No creepers please.

Rabid's Cave

Rabid's Cave, viewed from near the end of the road.

Location: x = 210, z = -750. Follow the road southeast from the RIP Fort, about one rendering-length.
Builder: rabid

Above ground, the complex is dominated by a series of water traps designed to catch everything from zombies and creepers to pigs and cows. One even produces extra pieces of cactus at a ridiculous rate.

The waterways all converge on a hole that drops items (and, occasionally, small animals) into the workshop. Here, Rabid looks at a wolf that has found its way inside, while stuff accumulates in the background.

Below the workshop is a massive cave complex. The caves have been worked so that they are mostly square and level, with stairs connecting each of dozens of chambers and tunnels to each other. It's easy to get lost in here; bring a tour guide if you want to be able to find your way out.

Unnamed Tower 0

The original unnamed tower, constructed primarily from sandstone.

Location: x=-200, z=-600. One rendering-length due north from the RIP Fort, one rendering-length due southeast from TomCat Ranch.
Builder: catdarrow

This tower features a cozy but complete space for resting overnight, and pretty nice views of the surrounding landscape. As with other towers of its type, be careful not to fall into the trench outside, lest you find yourself surrounded by trench-dwelling creepers. (To escape the trench, jump on the blocks in the back.)

Unnamed Tower 3

Another yet-unnamed tower made of cobblestone, featuring lava.

Location: x = -275, z = -1575. Three rendering-lengths due east, plus a little bit south, from TomCat Ranch.
Builder: catdarrow

The previous towers provided a safe place to stay the night. This tower provides lots and lots of danger. Stand against the wrong wall and you may find yourself suddenly on fire due to lava on the far side. Approach from the wrong side and you may find yourself in a maze of cactus. There is a place to sleep at the very top of the tower, though the ladder requires some care to climb. It's not exactly designed with safety in mind; dying minions are cheap to replace and good for laughs. Still, there is spare equipment here, and monsters find it more treacherous than you do, so it's not a bad place to hole up.

Unnamed Tower 2

Another yet-unnamed tower made of wood and leaves.

Location: x=-450, z=-1500. Three rendering-lengths due east from TomCat Ranch.
Builder: catdarrow

This tower serves as a safe place to stay the night, featuring beds on the upper level (near cloud layer) and a water elevator all the way up and down. Like other towers of its type, it contains a complete set of adventuring equipment.

Beneath the tower is a skeleton-and-zombie drowning trap. A skeleton spawner sits just below the tower, and a waterfall pushes skeletons down into the zombie spawner below. The water flow pushes both zombies and skeletons into a trench they cannot escape from. Once they drown, their item drops flow out under the glass wall, where you can pick them up.
